Bethpage Student 2025 Poster Contest Winners Recognized and Honored by Bethpage Water District
Earlier this year, fifth-grade students within the Bethpage Union Free School District were encouraged to use their creativity and design posters depicting different ways people can conserve water. The contest serves as an engaging activity that teaches students the importance of protecting and preserving Long Island’s sole-source aquifer. On June 16, 2025, the Bethpage Water District held a special ceremony at the Bethpage Public Library to recognize all the winners from this year’s contest.

Safeguarding Our Water...Today and Tomorrow
The Bethpage Water District (BWD) has always been at the forefront of protecting our local water supply, and this responsibility requires thoughtful planning, vigilance, and foresight. The BWD treatment program is a multi-prong approach, including the design and construction of multiple water treatment facilities throughout the District. This ensures the Bethpage Water District continues to meet New York State standards and regulations for emerging contaminates mandated by the State on August 26, 2020, and later modified for even stricter enforcement this past June and October.

Bethpage Water District to Receive $49 Million to Treat Contamination
After years of claimsand negotiations over water contamination emanating in part from US Navy and Northrop Grumman properties in Bethpage, NY, the Bethpage Water District (BWD), the United States, and the Northrop Grumman Corporation today filed a proposed Consent Judgment in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York resolving the matter.
