Yes. The use of water for irrigation purposes is regulated in accordance with a Nassau County Ordinance. Water restrictions are continuously in effect regardless of the season. There is no watering allowed between the hours of 10am & 4pm on any day.
However, watering is permitted all other hours of the day under the following criteria. Houses with an odd numbered address may water on odd calendar days and houses with an even number address, no numbers or letters may water on an even calendar day. These rules apply to automatic irrigation systems as well as manually operated sprinklers.
Automatic irrigation systems must be outfitted with a rain sensing device to prevent the irrigation system from operating when it is raining. Hand held hoses must have a spring loaded nozzle attached to it to automatically turn off the flow once it is put down.
