Bethpage Water District (BWD) Board of Commissioners William J. Ellinger, John R. Sullivan and John F. Coumatos joined Superintendent Michael Boufis to greet the Bethpage community at the annual Bethpage Fair in the train station parking lot. Residents talked to BWD staff and Superintendent Mike Boufis about the nearly-complete digital meter replacement program and the high-tech water-use monitoring program “EyeOnWater.”
“Now that we are nearly finished updating our community’s meters to include this digital usage monitoring system, we want to be make sure we are available to help our neighbors understand the new features they have access to,” said William J. Ellinger, Chairman of the Bethpage Water District Board of Commissioners. “It was a pleasure to speak with our neighbors and explain how the new EyeOnWater digital system can help them assess their water use and better employ water conservation tactics.”
Water industry experts from Bethpage Water District talked residents through viewing and detecting problems such as uncharacteristically high levels of water usage and even receiving email notifications in the event of leaks via the new digital monitoring account. All water usage is recorded on the “EyeOnWater” system so residents can easily understand when and how they use the greatest amounts of water per day. This information can help the community determine how they can better conserve and save money on their water bills.
