Bethpage Water District (BWD) Superintendent Mike Boufis and Secretary to the Board of Commissioners Sal Greco recently attended the Bethpage Fire Department (BFD) Street Fair on behalf of the Board of Commissioners Chairman William Ellinger, Treasurer John Sullivan and Secretary Gary Bretton. The BWD greeted fair attendees at the booth set up to educate the Bethpage community on the new “EyeOnWater” digital water meter system. The new system will send email alerts to warn residents of any leaks or complications they may not be aware they have.
“The ‘EyeOnWater’ system allows residents to view their water usage data daily and recognize any trends and issues with their water service,” said Mike Boufis, Superintendent of the Bethpage Water District. “Through education of their water supply, we hope to encourage the community to become more involved in the protection of one of our most vital resources. The fair is a great opportunity for us to hear from our community, and explain what we are doing to keep Bethpage families safe.”
The district scheduled appointments for residents who opted to have the new digital water meters installed, and gave out free gifts and pens to community members that stopped by. If you missed the fair, you can schedule your upgrade by calling the district at 516-931-0093.
