Bethpage Water District Superintendent Michael Boufis and Secretary Sal Greco recently participated in the Long Island Water Quality Symposium on behalf of Bethpage Water District commissioners John Sullivan, William Ellinger and Gary Bretton. Superintendent Boufis and Secretary Greco joined water industry experts from Nassau and Suffolk counties and local state elected officials to discuss the importance of water quality and aquifer protection throughout Long Island.
Event hosts, Long Island Water Conference, Rivkin Radler LLP and the Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, invited water industry experts and environmentalists to serve on panels and address such topics as the current state of Long Island’s drinking water and protecting Long Island’s surface water against pollution. New York State Senator Charles Schumer and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone addressed symposium attendees as well.
“Long Island is our home,” said Bethpage Water District Superintendent Michael Boufis. “The local water providers live and serve communities throughout multiple regions on Long Island. It is important that we come together to share our knowledge and experiences to better provide our residents with the highest quality water as possible.”
