Who is the Superintendent of the Bethpage Water District?

The Superintendent is Michael Boufis. He has been with Bethpage Water District for over 10 years and was a superintendent of Suffolk County Water Authority for more than 21 years before joining Bethpage Water District. He has obtained a wealth of experience from his three decades of service and is well versed in all facets of water treatment. As part of Suffolk County Water Authority, he was a leader for over 80 Water Plant Operators and supervised more than 550 wells which utilized every type of filtration system to treat the various water quality issues throughout Long Island.

In the present environment of Bethpage, we are extremely fortunate to have a superintendent whose experience in water treatment is at the top of the industry. He is approachable and will talk water quality concerns with anyone, anytime for as long as it takes. He speaks with equal passion to elected officials, clients and customers on behalf of the District and has held after school instructional workshops for the elementary school students of Bethpage and the surrounding communities. Mr. Boufis is at the forefront of where the district is headed with our community’s current and future water quality concerns in mind.
