Bethpage Water Represents Community at Drinking Water Symposium

District Contributes to Island-wide Discussion of the Future of Long Island’s Water Supply

Bethpage Water District Board of Water Commissioners, Superintendent Michael Boufis and Secretary to the Board Sal Greco recently participated in the Long Island Water Conference’s Annual Drinking Water Symposium. The event was intended to highlight crucial issues related to water conservation and the future of Long Island’s water supply.

“We are proud to represent our community and share our experiences with other water providers across the Island to continually enhance the way water is tested, treated and distributed to Nassau and Suffolk County residents,” said Commissioner William J. Ellinger. “We must work together to secure the support we need to invest and update our systems to protect the high quality water service our residents have come to expect and deserve.”

Panel discussions featured representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, United States Geological Survey, the Environmental Protection Agency and local water providers. The water industry experts aimed to update attendees on the status of Long Island’s drinking water system, national water conservation efforts and water technology and infrastructure needs.
