Bethpage Water District (BWD) would like to proudly announce that John F. Coumatos was inducted as Secretary of the Board of Commissioners

Bethpage Water District (BWD) would like to proudly announce that John F. Coumatos was inducted as Secretary of the Board of Commissioners during the public board meeting on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Coumatos was elected to serve his first term as secretary this past December.

“As a Bethpage resident, Bethpage high school graduate and business owner I am honored for the chance to serve my neighbors as BWD Board of Commissioners Secretary,” said Secretary John F. Coumatos. “I believe my varied experience will provide a fresh perspective on the duties and decisions that protect our community’s water supply.”

The commissioner continues to be an active volunteer in the community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Bethpage Chamber of Commerce, being named “Man of the Year” by the chamber in 2010 and Grand Marshall of the Bethpage St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2007. He continues to give back to his community as a frequent donor to St. Martin of Tours Church, St. Vincent De Paul Society and as host of the B.K. Sweeney’s annual Thanksgiving feast for over 100 veterans from the Veteran’s center in Northport, NY and St. Albans, NY for many years.

His past experience also includes volunteer efforts with the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency.
