Bethpage Water District Asks Residents to Beware of Individuals Posing as District Employees

Recently, there have been reports of individuals posing as Bethpage Water District (BWD) employees in order to enter resident homes.

BWD Water Commissioners William Ellinger, Gary Bretton and John Sullivan express that resident safety continues to be their top priority, and wish to inform their community of these incidents so residents can efficiently minimize any potential safety risk.

The BWD enforces strict rules designed for resident protection. The Commissioners ask residents to become familiar with the following safety precautions so they may deal with the situation securely:

• All BWD personnel are required to carry photo identification cards. Residents should ask to view these identification cards before allowing individuals into their homes
• BWD employees will only visit resident homes if a resident previously made an appointment.
• BWD personnel are required to wear official uniforms.

The Water Commissioners would like to remind residents to always proceed with caution when opening their doors to unfamiliar individuals, and to take the necessary precautions to ensure a visitor is in fact an employee of the Bethpage Water District.
